“Force a Smile”
Feb 02, 2020Who are these people who smile all the time? They walk around town happy and chuckling to themselves. Is life that good for them? Or are they covering up sorrow and pain?
I look at myself in the mirror and try to force a smile. It doesn’t feel natural. Those muscles rarely get used. I need to stand in front of the mirror every day and do smiling exercises. Open the mouth wide, close it tight. Open, close, repeat until it hurts. After a few weeks, my face will be buff.
If the exercise doesn’t work, I can always roid up. Or Botox? I’ll have a perma-smile plastered on my face all day. People will see me walking down the street and wonder why I’m so damn happy. “His joy looks painful,” they’ll think.
