“Excuse Me”

Molly crouched forward in her beach chair, reaching for the duffel bag. She grabbed it with the tips of her fingers and pulled it towards her. She unzipped it and pulled out her hoodie. It had been cloudy all day and looked like it was gonna rain, but all the phone apps said it wasn’t going to rain.

“Excuse me. Excuuuuuse me!” screamed a blonde lady, stepping on everyone’s belongings as she tried to cut her way through the crowd to get to her friends who were conveniently all the way through the crowd. She looked like she had been around the block a few times and had been drinking for a few hours already.

She tripped as she tried to step over one of the chained railings that formed the zigzagging line on the lawn in front of the cemetery. Her seemingly empty bottle of beer now looked like it was a six-pack as the remaining liquid spilled all over Molly as she was putting on her hoodie.

Molly is too damn nice so she just glanced over at her friend, Lily, staring at what was going on, giving the blonde lady a disgusted look.

“My beer! Why the fuck did you do that?” she yelled at Molly, who was facing away from her.

Lily, feeling protective of Molly, yelled back, “fuck you, lady! She didn’t do shit! You just don’t know how to walk and hold a beer at the same time. And you spilled your fucking beer on my friend!”

The blonde lady looked startled, clearly not used to having people actually respond to her confrontations. But her expression quickly turned back to anger.”

“Hey, fuck you! Mind your own fucking business, doll!”

Molly was giving Lily the “just forget about it” look but Lily wasn’t paying attention.
